The Synagogue also provides pastoral counseling, Hebrew School, Pre-Hebrew School, adult education in various Jewish studies including Hebrew, a newsletter, bagel breakfasts, lectures on topics of current interest, and other social events including Purim, Hanukkah, and other holiday celebrations and social gatherings, along with outreach services by the Cantor and the Congregation. The Synagogue has always had a close association with Colby College and opens its doors to all area college students and non-members. The number of Congregation members today is approximately the same as the historical average since the post-WWII days of the 1950s. However, the makeup of today's membership is significantly different than the old established families. Today's members are of diverse backgrounds and ages, intermarriages, and from many places both nationally and internationally -- and the Synagogue has evolved both religiously and socially to accommodate and embrace all new members.
